A friend of the family has passed away, this is the family on my Boyfriend’s side…well his kids anyways. I don’t know the details as of yet but that they declared him braindead and was on life support for donating his organs. At least he can helps others in some way. I know it sounds demented but at least something positive can come from a negative situation. My heart goes out to his Wife and Son.

When I bought my camera earlier this year, I needed a memory card well I just bought a 1GB one. I’ve been needing another one.
So I had the opportunity to purchase another one and I did. I went to TigerDirect to do some online shopping and I found one at a very nice price which was actually cheaper than the one I bought at the store here. I went ahead, added it to the cart, proceeded to the checkout. It was so easy to setup because I don’t have a credit card that is useable for purchases. I do have debit cards but for some reason I feel uneasy. So when I signed up for eBillme it was so simple and I did like the way they had the information needed to set up thru my online banking. Very fast, very simple and I definitely going to purchase again using eBillme again. I should be receiving the item I purchased too very soon as I can track online
In the past couple of weeks, some of my friends have been going thru some really tough times. From losing their home, to losing their kids to losing there loved ones to stupidity but not on their behalf.
For the one that is having issues with her kids’ Dad. That one right there took the cake. And frankly it really pissed me off. I do not know how I would be able to cope with the situation. I can only hope that a miracle happens here for her.
For myself, I am slowly losing my patience lately. For one, I don’t get to sleep in very often and when I do its very much welcomed. I got woke up this morning a tad bit too early and I don’t like that at all. I want to sleep in til’ at least 7am…is that too much to ask that someone NOT bang the dishes around at a quarter til’? Please?
On the days I get woke up too soon I am a complete bitch. I can’t help it. I fight sleep the night before, I try to go to bed early but that never happens. All last week when our power was out, your gonna laugh here. I could not sleep and I have NOTHING to do besides read in the dark. I managed to get to bed about 11:30 one night. Then as soon as the Sun rose, I was up…that was right around 6:30….BLAH. I hate waking up.
We are in threat of some more severe weather. See, one week ago tonight. I checked the weather radar to see where the rain storm they had mentioned. But didn’t suspect anything severe. So no weather alerts were posted. Come Monday, was abruptly woken by the snap of lightning then the power going out. Grrrr. Then stayed out for almost four days. So now…here I sit thinking about de ja vu’ from last week.
Please…someone make the storms stop. I am not sure how much more our area can take. First the Ice Storm earlier this week, then the flooding last month and now this Derecho Wind Storm. Which by the way, my Son made a comment about. He was telling me about what his Step Brother had called the storm. He goes “Mom, Stepbrother said the storm was a F U. !” I go what? He goes…”F U”. I said do you mean a F1…he goes..oh yeah. OMG, that was just toooooo funny for him to say that.
I was waiting outside the restaurant we ate at and a couple came out because the line was so long to check out. They had driven over here from Iowa to eat. I asked them why? Why over here when there is the same restaurant over there. They said that they like the service over here better than there. I was like oh ok, then the guy mentioned about the storm and how it had changed their lives. He also had a appt with his insurance agent to get some term life insurance quotes because he had a neighbor who was injured in the storm and then about the little boy that was killed by a falling tree. He had said it left a mark on his soul and learned that life is just too short.
My Son is now getting to that age where the change is starting for him. He has been getting some pimples and some blackheads. I really need to find him some blackhead remover for them blackheads. I hate them so bad. My Boyfriend has a few on his cheeks but won’t touch them….so I keep telling him that I am going to find some of those blackhead remover stuff, like the ones that go across the nose and just rip him off…lol. He gave me the look of death. I thought it was funny. He didn’t.
Well here’s an update on the power outage around here. Its slowly coming back as its getting below the 10,000 mark. The highest number was over 172,000. Yikes.
All of my family and friends now have power after having 4 days of no power. With that storm we had it really did some extensive damage. For what most people are saying, that its not that bad. Its one of those situations its something you have to be here to see and understand the magnitude.
I do have to say, Thank You to all the hard working out of state workers who have worked around the clock to get our power back up and running. Never once did they complain. But it was our own electric company that we had some complaints. My Boyfriend overheard a electrician with our own electric company brag about how much he was earning in a days time.
I made the comment to my boyfriend…you should of told that son of a witch to get back to work and get us back up and running. This was before the out of town people came. I could not believe the gull of this person to brag about money when people were losing food and jobs. That’s very selfish of him. Maybe he should share his wealth with the family down the road who has 4 kids, newly divorced, doesn’t get assistance and is working 3 jobs just to get by. And to see her crying throwing away all the milk she had just bought for her babies. Because she doesn’t have adequate transportation to go across the river to buy ICE. Which was scarce for 2 days and by the time we got ice, it was too late to save anything.
I also found out too that our Walmart stores suffered heavy damage to their frozen food and deli, dairy and meat depts. We walked into Walmart yesterday to see empty milk shelves, no meat, no frozen foods. Within an hour of losing power they pulled as much as they could into the freezers that were brought in and running off batteries. And it wasn’t just Walmart it was a majority of the grocery stores on this side of the river. Its going to take time for things to be back to normal, and that’s ok. We have come together as a community and it will be alright.
And let me tell you. I and about 170,000 other people have been without power since early Monday morning. And what’s sad is I can tell you everything that has happened since Monday.
It all started about 6:10 am when a snap of lightning hit outside and I felt my whole house move and shake. I had to go bathroom so bad, but was scared. But I had too. So I sat down. And the tornado sirens started blaring. I then had a thought. Great, here I go…I am going to die on the pot. But felt so powerless cause I had no radio, no tv, and no internet. Little did I know then it would take 3 days for it to return. So here I was in the bathroom and my cats were going nuts. I knew too that my boyfriend was on the road home. And it wasn’t safe outside. It was a eery green colored sky. The winds were so bad, I saw stuff flying that should not of been flying around. So finally my boyfriend comes home and he is totally drenched. He changes into dry clothes and says he has to go take a drug test for his new job. No problem. We get in the car and leave. We turn right onto 41st Street which, we always go that way anyways. Since we didn’t have power we turned the news on the radio station and it is our local radio station interrupting the Todays Show. So listening, so many people were without power. The first initial number was 126,000. Ok that’s about all of Moline,IL. But I knew that the numbers were much higher.
There were so many people calling into the show, stating what they saw and how they are doing. If they needed help or what not. Well. SO MANY people reported seeing tornadoes. But the NWS reports none. What I think is that the people just saw the wind just take down so many trees and that is your first instinct. But in the end it was called a “derecho” which means a direct line of winds…straight lined winds. Which measured at 94mph at the Moline Airport. Which techincally measures to a F1 Tornado. We did not get much rain as it was more wind than anything else. This type of storm is also very rare. As its never happened the entire time I have lived here which is over 30 years.
The past two days, I spent without power has been very aggravating and lonely. I am used to playing on the internet and such. Well. No More. I am going to enjoy life because as the saying goes. “You don’t know what you got…..til’ its gone.!” And let me tell you. Its totally true. I value electricity more than anything right now. Even though we lost all our food, in the refridgerator anyways. And before anyone says anything. I have to say. For two days straight ICE has been a hot commodity. Most gas stations in our area were closed due to power outages. And they were considered unsafe for one….but when the power goes…ICE MELTS. So yes, no one could find ice anywhere. So I couldn’t save anything without having ice. No one knew how long it would be before power was restored because this has never happened before with the power being out and having so many trees down on power lines. Its going to take a long, long time. Well. By the time we got our ice, it was too late. So instead we bought water, then got some water free. Because we had no power. Thank you Walmaaaart. And no, I don’t have renters insurance because money is way too tight right now. I get so tired of people being so negative about things. Give me a break. This is one of those situations where you have to be here to see the magnitude of the damage. And now we are being considered a Federal Disaster because of how much damage from the electrical poles. We can also get help with the clean up fees. Which means, the time you put in for your work.
I really need to put up a link to my Flickr as I have a few pics up of the damage. I took my camera to get some pictures. But didn’t manage to actually take the pictures because, some of the damage is of people’s memories, their lives and I am not the one to put that on the internet. Its not fair. So instead…I cried for them. Boy did I do that alot in the last three days.
Ok let’s see if this works. Click here to go to Flickr to view the few pictures I did take.
I am more than determined now to lose weight. I am wanting to fit into smaller clothes and wear cute shirts. The only way that will happen is if I lose weight. So I may go and do my homework for the best diet pills on the market. I remember taking some diet pills years ago and it made me jumpy. For anyone wanting to use diet pills, make sure you do your homework and research to find the best ones. When I came across this site about the diet pills I was really pleased with the information posted and to have reviews from actual customers, is definitely something that is important.
Well I need to run outside and do some yard work real quick, just got a phone call from a friend of mine. She is storing her fridge in my garage til’ she finds a place to move too.
The first Saw movie…oh yah..lol. I love gorey movies and this one is really cheesy of course. I really wish we had the money to go rent some scary movies. I am really in the mood to watch something scary and be afraid to sleep tonight. Do you remember the first Saw movie? Especially on how the guy in the middle of the room is the killer to begin with and I hated how he stood up at the end.
